This database provides a list of publicly announced electric thermal generation projects and proposals within the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC). The entire database is available for download in Microsoft Excel.

This database is only used for tracking the status of new generation projects and is not intended to suggest or predict the probability of projects being approved by licensing authorities or becoming operational.

To develop the database, staff first gathered information from various sources on proposed generation and retirements within the WECC. These sources include discussions with staff at state regulatory agencies, information from regulatory agency web sites, reading energy industry newsletters, and perusing company web sites.

Based on the information gathered, the projects are assigned, by status, to one of the following seven categories:

• 0 - Operational
• 1 - Under construction
• 2 - Regulatory approval received
• 3 - Application under review
• 4 - Starting application process
• 5 - Press release only
• 6 - Cancelled, denied permit or delayed indefinitely
